Switch to Metal Packaging: A Smart Choice for Our Planet

Since November 2020, the microSEAP project has united experts from the UK, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam to study the effects of plastic pollution on mangroves, coral reefs, and beaches. Extensive research has been conducted in these countries, all severely affected by plastic waste in the South China Sea.

It was highlighted that the project has succeeded in providing a comprehensive understanding of plastic pollution's impact. This week's workshops will develop actionable solutions, including policy changes, economic strategies, and new technologies. A key focus will be on how marine bacteria degrade microplastics using advanced FIB SEM techniques.

The insights from the SEAP Programme will help policymakers and marine managers in South East Asia mitigate environmental damage from marine plastics. The microSEAP project is funded by the UK’s Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) with support from the UK Government and the Singapore National Research Foundation.

As a sustainable alternative to plastic, metal packaging like easy-open ends offers not only eco-friendly but also safer solution for the industry, as it contains no harmful chemicals and better preserves the freshness and taste of food. Plus, its durability means fewer damaged goods, saving costs in the long run. Unlike plastic, metal is infinitely recyclable without losing quality, helping to reduce the plastic waste that pollutes our oceans and harms marine life.

We take pride to deliver excellence to our partners for their canning brands and the world as we chose to be of service to their needs.
